2022 is the 50th Anniversary of the Hillview Speedway Club.

On this page we hope to bring you some of our history, some stories from "older" members and reminicences of the past.
If you would like contribute photos or a story or see any errors or ommissions please email us at hillview-speedway2@outlook.com.

This years major race event is the Memorials meet on Oct 7 & 8, 2022. This includes the Neville Hampton Memorial, Ash Page Memorial, JSRA (Junior Sedans) Series round and of course cellebrating our 59th Anniversary.

We've had some contributions to date we'd like to share and will continue adding as we can.

The heady days when Parkinson, Higgins, Phyllis, Zabellia, Malone (dec), Mitchell, Napier, Jackson, myself and others joined forces and can't remember how, built a speedway track (at Mt Newmans unknowing expense), named it Hillview incorporated an S-bend in the original design.
To maintain an ever increasing sense of individualism, we also built a motor cross track as a centre piece that came from efforts of guys who rode road trial bikes to work and back.
Those were the days, nothing to get a 120 Wabco, D9 or 16G grader for earthworks and as much oil as was required to seal the red dirt surface.
How times changed and I believe all community sporting groups were severely impacted with the advent of FIFO and contact miners.
Congratulations on continuing the speedway tradition and a 50 years celebration of something that started out as a bit of 'regulated(?) bush bashing' certainly will revive happy memories of all original members that heard it's still going strong.
Congratulations and may you members enjoy many years of speedway action.
Stan Allen.
